Putting the News in One Location

Using a deal for app development in Singapore, I created an app that takes information from any website and simplifies it, making it possible to skim the contents in a short amount of time. In today’s world, people like to get as much information as possible in a short amount of time. Usually they do this by watching videos, but sometimes people can’t want videos, or they would rather read the information. When the information is condensed into small parts, you can get the basic point of it while being able to move between news stories and stay up to date.

To do this, an algorithm had to be written that took the headline of a new story into account and then scanned the news article for information that matched words that were used in the title.

Even the Athletes Are Doing It

A popular athlete was on television one day talking about what he had been doing since his retirement from the NFL. He mentioned that he had been doing some marketing from his home after reading Ewen Chia reviews on a popular website. The host asked him why someone as rich as him would bother doing any kind of marketing work, and the athlete told the host that it was because the work was so easy and he could do it while sitting naked at the kitchen table. This response got a lot of laughs from the audience, but it made me a little curious.

Affiliate Marketing Saved My Life

A few months ago, I lost my job when the local car manufacturing plant decided to close its doors after being open for nearly 50 years. That plant was my life, and without it, I was left without a way to make money. I had two kids at home and a wife who needed my income. I took on a part time job while looking for a full time job, but that wasn’t enough. With the holidays coming up, I really needed money. In a last ditch effort, I turned to Ewen Chia for help and got something much better than a job.

Instead of making money through a tradtional job that could easily be taken away from me, I used affiliate marketing. My wife didn’t have much confidence in the idea when I first told her about it, so I told her that I would continue to look for a regular job while still using the marketing. Her confidence in the idea quickly changed when she saw how much money I was able to make in the span of a month. I stopped looking for a job and even stopped going to my part time job so I could focus more on the marketing.

I had enough money to buy my family a great Thanksgiving meal, and I’ve been able to pay for all of their Christmas presents. My kids like to make long lists of items that they want, but I keep telling them that they should shorten it a bit, because Santa’s sleigh won’t be able to hold all of those things. As for my wife, I’ve gotten her a really nice necklace. I’m not sure what she got me this year, but I know that it will be nice. A motorcycle would be a nice gift though.

The Advantages of High-Tech Gadgets

High-tech gadgets and devices exist in almost every industry. Medical industries use software to treat some tumors, business sectors use PDAs and small payment processors to enhance work productivity, and digital reading devices such as the Amazon Kindle and Sony E-Reader allow individuals to read on-demand books and literature. The sticker price of high-tech gadgets is usually high, but gadget owners have the convenience to use these types of devices just about anywhere.

Mobility

  • The majority of high-tech gadgets are extremely mobile and portable; this gives the owner the chance to use it at any time and any place. Consider netbooks that weigh an average of 2 to 3 lbs., and fit conveniently into small carrying cases or backpacks. High-tech gadgets that use GPS (global positioning system) technology are the ultimate mobile devices, which allow individuals to see and plan travel routes instantly. Wristwatches have also come a long way with high-tech features. Stanley/Brando manufactures a watch with a built-in LED flashlight, while Fossil produces a high-tech watch with a built-in Palm Operating System and a touch screen. All of these mobile, high-tech gadgets allow for convenience.

Capabilities

  • There are lots of high-tech gadgets that contain multiple capabilities. Gadget owners can use just one or two devices to handle many tasks. For example, PDAs (personal digital assistants), some mp3 players and other similar smartphone devices use mobile operating systems and user interfaces to allow for Internet surfing, voice communications and task scheduling. In many of these high-tech devices, wireless technology–a protocol that provides instant connectivity and communications–gets built into laptop computers, mobile PDAs, cell phones, and e-readers like the Amazon Kindle.

Personal Productivity

  • High-tech gadgets increase personal and professional productivity. Employees connect to the office from a home computer with secure VPN (virtual private networking) technology. Some sales people use PDAs, mobile computers and other high-tech devices to submit work orders and contact business associates. Sales transactions can even be instantly completed with the use of convenient devices like the Square–a mobile credit card reader just about 1 inch long that connects to most mobile devices. Business professionals and college students are two consumer groups that use high-tech gadgets to finish projects and collaborate with others through mobile technologies while at home, in the dorm or at the office.

Innovation

  • High-tech gadgets pave the way for new devices to be produced. Computer processors are made faster with the use of two, three and four CPUs (central processing units) to enhance efficiency and speed. Technology companies and inventors continually research and find ways to tweak current high-tech gadgets in order to make processing more efficient, and expand the capabilities of consumer and business products.

Household Gadgets in the 1930s

When director Todd Haynes obtained the rights to remake the award-winning movie “Mildred Pierce” as a five-episode TV miniseries starring Kate Winslet in 2011, he insisted on absolute decor authenticity. The finished 1931-era kitchen set proved a perfect reflection of the decorating sensibilities of the 1930s homemaker, right down to the colors, kitsch and gadgets. See for yourself how many details are pitch perfect if you catch or rent this classic remake — and look for the following gadgets, too.

Cook Dinner With Two Light Bulbs

  • Imagine a giant pot large enough to boil lobsters for a crowd and you’ll have a good mental image of the stove top oven that made the pages of the December 1930 issue of “Popular Science” magazine. The giant metal gadget had insulated walls and was fitted with two 150-watt electric bulbs. A homemaker could put all of her dinner ingredients into the pot and have a complete meal ready for her family in three hours without having to turn on the oven. A special insert even allowed a cook to bake muffins at the same time she cooked dinner.

Indoor Trash Incinerator

  • Listed among the items featured in “Thirteen New Aids Designed for the Busy Housewife,” an article appearing in the December 1930 issue of “Popular Mechanix,” was an incinerator that literally burned food waste, scraps and other trash right in the kitchen. Engineered to be installed under a gas range, the unit was designed to vent through the stovepipe so the kitchen didn’t fill with smoke. The people producing this innovative gadget were quite enthusiastic about its potential, but since a market for indoor incinerators never developed, chances are this invention proved impractical, if not downright dangerous.

It’s “Practically Automatic”!

  • The manufacturer extolled the virtues of a new-fangled can opener introduced in 1930 as being “practically automatic,” but nothing could be further from the truth. Not only was this gadget huge, bulky and downright ugly, but it required a decent chunk of dedicated counter space to keep it anchored. While one end of the contraption held the can in place, the operator turned a handle to remove the lid. Besides being awkward and unattractive, the gadget lost aesthetic appeal from the clamping rig or screws and bolts required for installation. Practically automatic? A poor choice of words, even from a company looking for buyers.

It’s an Orchestra Leader. No, It’s a Blender.

  • Popular 1930s orchestra leader Fred Waring was so well-known that when the Waring Company introduced its blender to American housewives, everybody thought Fred made the gadget as well as orchestrating musical arrangements. Fact is, the musician agreed to fund the concept repeatedly, even after prototypes failed. This complex gadget took a long time to be developed, but engineers (and Waring) never wavered. The first Waring blender was showcased as the Miracle Mixer at Chicago’s 1937 National Restaurant Show.

The Most Popular Gadget of All

  • It’s hard to imagine a product being more popular than the Waring blender, but since the Sunbeam Mixmaster did so much in the kitchen, it was proclaimed the most famous and versatile gadget introduced in the 1930s. Housewives from coast to coast fell in love with their Mixmasters from the moment they first appeared on department store shelves in May 1930. Even today, 1930s-era Mixmasters generate big bucks for antiques dealers and gadget collectors. If you’ve got one, have it appraised immediately.

How to Manually Install a Gadget

A gadget is a small application that sits on your desktop. The gadgets feature was first introduced in Windows Vista. These gadgets sit either in the sidebar in Windows Vista or anywhere on the screen in Windows 7. Your computer has several stock gadgets already installed, such as notes, a calendar, weather and a clock. If you cannot find a gadget you want, manually install gadgets from the Microsoft website.

Instructions

  1. Right-click your desktop. Choose “Gadgets” from the list. The menu of pre-installed gadgets appears.
  2. Click the link to “Get more gadgets online.”
  3. Choose a gadget from the Microsoft website. Click the link to “Get Now.”
  4. Click the “Download” button. Choose “Open” when prompted.
  5. Click the “Run” button. Choose the option to “Install.” The gadget appears on your desktop.

How to Build Homemade Electronic Spy Gadgets

With the wide availability of spy equipment such as pinhole cameras and rechargeable mini stick cameras, the average consumer can make a spy gadget out of almost anything. A simple Starbucks coffee cup can be turned into a creative ultra compact and concealed spy device. Since coffee cups are generally accepted for people to carry around everywhere, this is an excellent way to conceal a spy camera from view and gives plenty of versatility on where you can bring it or set it down to record.

Instructions

  1. Use the awl to poke a small hole within the Starbucks logo on the side of the coffee cup. By placing the hole in the logo, it will effectively mask its existence as opposed to using the white area of the cup.
  2. Place the Spy Camera Stick on the inside of the cup and line up the lens with the hole. If you need to make the hole larger, use the awl tool and carefully widen the lens hole. Tape the Spy Camera Stick to the inside of the coffee cup. Make certain to test the video capability to ensure the lens is properly aligned within the cup.
  3. Fill the inside of the cup 3/4 full with cotton balls and pack them tight. This will help to prevent the Spy Camera Stick from moving around and loosening the tape.
  4. Place the lid on the coffee cup and be sure not to cover the hole with your hand if you’re using this camera while mobile. Since the vast majority of mini spy cameras offer hours of video with every charge, there should be no problem with activating the camera inside the cup and leaving it to record.

Buy Android TV Box from China Wholesale Market

chinavasion

While buying an android system the first thing that comes to mind is whether to buy a mobile or a television. The Android TV box available today is the best alternative over the regular cables setup box. For people owing a television set of Sony, Sharp, Philips or any other brand the android television box is a worthwhile product. Along with TV you will be able to play games or stream for the favorite movie of your choice.

The movie is streamed through Google play store which casts the content. All you need is a stable Wi-Fi connection that helps to download movies or play games of your choice. For my kids this was the best thing that had happened. As I was able to watch them playing on weekends and spending some quality time with them. Earlier I had video games purchased for my kids, but they were bored of it. I wanted to get them with something better that provided information. Plainly playing games had become monotonous as they were growing up and had formed different interest.

Through online I was able to get the right kind of products. This device is the best thing to buy as the buyer gets multiple forms of benefit from the device. I knew that buying electronic goods was not an easy task for which I preferred to go with the online market. I scrolled several websites initially but did not want to risk by purchasing from an unknown source. My wife and I were keen on getting the best Android TV box. Pricing was not an issue for us, as buying electronic items is a onetime purchase. When it comes to purchase such things it becomes essential for the buyer to rely on the promising website.

I love to watch TV. I could not change my habits for anything, my wife knew this fact. She too encouraged the idea of buying TV box after learning how seemingly interesting this product was. It was not only aimed to fulfill my weekend desire but also make my children learn about new things as well have a fun time. Earlier we had to plan our holidays or weekends at some video game parlor or a multiplex to watch the latest releases.

My kids loved to watch animated movies as they are still in that age to enjoy the concept of animation. Today animation has changed the way world used to view cartoon. The innovation has made things more interesting and technology has helped us to watch it in our homes easily. There is no reason why a person would not opt for such an innovative product.

Online stores are responsible to make the lives simpler. All a person has to do is place an order from the best website. I found China wholesale market as worthwhile that did not compromise on the quality of the goods they shipped to their customers. Buying online has become too simple especially for android based electronics. Everything on this website is excellent where they only sell latest models of the finest brand names.

How to Make Spy Gadgets Out of Household Items for Kids

http://pad1.whstatic.com/images/thumb/d/d7/Train-Yourself-to-Be-a-Spy-Step-3.jpg/670px-Train-Yourself-to-Be-a-Spy-Step-3.jpg
Children enjoy using their imagination and with films like “Spy Kids” and cartoons such as “Totally Spies!” homemade “spy gear” can be used for games or as a creative outlet. Using tools and supplies found around the house, parents can help children create a safe from an unused book to hide their toys, a periscope for them to look around room corners and invisible ink to send and decode secret messages.

Book Safe

  1. Find an old, hardcover book that you are no longer interested in reading or one that’s ready for recycling. The thicker and larger the book, the more items you can be store inside it.
  2. Open the book and turn the pages until you are approximately a fourth of the way through the pages.
  3. Draw a rectangle on the right hand page using a marker or pen, but do not get too close to the book’s binding as cutting into the book’s binding will cause it to fall apart.
  4. Have an adult cut along each line carefully using a utility knife. To avoid leaving ragged edges, cut only a few pages with each knife stroke. You can cut a space all the way to the back cover, or cut fewer pages for a more shallow space.
  5. Place whatever items you want to hide into your new book safe and store it on a bookshelf. This is called hiding in plain sight.

Periscope

  1. Cut a two-inch square out of the end of a cardboard mailing tube, like those used to roll and send posters.
  2. Cut two-inch diagonal slits at each corner of the square and flip the tube around, repeating the square cuts and the diagonal slits at this end but on the opposite side.
  3. Glue mirrors to the squares along the periscope and inside each slit, with the latter mirrors facing the bottom. Add another small mirror to the bottom cut and use duct tape or dark opaque masking tape to seal up the ends of the tube to prevent light from entering.
  4. Look through one end of the tube and it’ll reflect images like a periscope.

Invisible Ink

  1. Cut a lemon from the refrigerator or pantry into wedges and squeeze the juice into a glass.
  2. Write out your secret message on recycled paper using the lemon juice and a make-up applicator brush and allow it to dry completely.
  3. Deliver your secret message and have the recipient hold it up near a heat source. If you hold it near a source with a flame, be careful not to let the paper touch it or it will burn.

How to Make Working Batman Gadgets

http://img.wonderhowto.com/img/26/53/63478391905078/0/bat-science-realistic-are-batmans-gadgets-dark-knight-rises.w654.jpg
Batman’s gadgets are interesting elements that make him a more appealing superhero character. They add excitement to the Batman story as the caped crusader wins over many fight scenes or escapes traps made for him by his villains with the help of these gadgets. You can make your own working version of one of Batman’s most popular gadgets called the Batarang, which is short for a Batman boomerang. This may or may not turn out as a real-life deadly weapon, but you can still use it like Batman, throwing it as a boomerang-type of weapon.

Instructions

  1. Draw the Batman symbol or any other shape you prefer, then have this marked by the Batman sign. For a more authentic Bat-shaped boomerang, use the actual Batman symbol as your project’s shape. To do this, draw arches within the interior curve of a crescent. These should make edges that resemble a bat’s wing. You can always check online sources for an accurate shape for your Batarang, then use it as guide. In terms of size, it’s up to you how big you want the Batarang to be. As a benchmark sample, you can use a size of 4 inches by 7 inches for this Bat-shaped boomerang.
  2. Cut out your Batarang’s shape using a pair of scissors or cutter.
  3. Cover the work-in-progress Batarang with tin foil to make it look like it’s made of metal, then put a black Batman symbol somewhere on the Batarang. Alternatively, you can paint the piece with black paint instead of merely putting a Batman symbol on it as an identifiable mark.

How to Make Spy Gear for Free

http://www.ups.gov.my/modules/ping/images/foto_69098.jpg
Help your kids feel like James Bond by making your own spy gear for free. You can create this gear with items found around the house and even in your kids’ rooms. These are simple enough to create with your children. You or your kids will be able to keep hidden treasures out of sight and send secret messages just by using household items such as vinegar, a book and a marble.

Spy Book

  1. Find an old, thick hardcover book in your collection at home. Look for one that is thick enough to hide the belongings you want to keep secret. Be sure it is a book no one uses anymore.
  2. Open the book one quarter of the way in, to about page 40. Draw a rectangle with a ruler and a pencil about an inch in from edges lengthwise and top and bottom of book.
  3. Use a utility knife to cut into the rectangle. Start on the side toward the edge of the book, cutting through several pages about an inch deep, depending on how big the book is and what size objects you would like to store in the book.
  4. Cut all sides of the rectangle to create a box inside the book. Put the things you would like to keep secret inside the book. Close the book and place it back in your bookshelf.

Periscope

  1. Cut a small rectangle on the bottom of the longer side of the empty carton with a utility knife. Cut the rectangle about a half inch from the bottom of the box. You will look into this hole when the box is finished. The rectangle should be about an inch high and 1 1/2 inches wide and about 1/4 inch in from each side. Turn the carton onto the opposite side and cut the exact same side box at the top of the side about a quarter down from the top.
  2. Glue a small mirror approximately 2 inches by 1 inch inside the bottom of the box at a 45-degree angle toward the window. Glue the second mirror into the inside top of the box at a 45-degree angle pointing toward the top window of the box.
  3. Paint your periscope dark and light green colors with a paintbrush to camouflage your spy periscope. Look into the bottom window into the mirror to spy at higher angles.

Keyhole Spy Gadget

  1. Cut a piece of black construction paper 8 inches long by 5 inches wide with scissors. Place a clear marble in the middle of the paper and roll the paper lengthwise tightly around the marble to make a tube.
  2. Tape the roll together. Blow into the tube until the marble is poking halfway out the other end of the tube.
  3. Hold the tube up to the keyhole with the marble touching the keyhole and look through the other end of the tube. The image will be upside down, but you will be able to see into the room behind the closed door.

Invisible Ink

  1. Put an ounce of lemon juice or vinegar into a bowl. Dip your paintbrush into the bowl. Write a message with the brush onto bright white paper.
  2. Let the message dry completely until it’s invisible. Write another message with pen or pencil on the paper. This second message will be used to distract people from the invisible ink. Write something mundane such as a grocery list so no one suspects there is another message on the paper.
  3. Give the note to a friend. Quietly tell her to hold it up to a light bulb but not close enough that it could burn. The lemon juice message will appear as the paper heats.

Where to Input RSS Feed Into Gmail

http://cdn9.howtogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/sshot-61.png
Subscribing to an RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, news feed is a convenient way to receive regular updates from your favorite blog, website or online news service. Google’s Gmail email service doesn’t include an RSS feed reader as a standard feature, but you can add it as a Gmail gadget, then enter the address of the RSS feed to which you want to subscribe in the RSS box at the bottom of the Gmail screen.

Google Applications and RSS Feeds

  • Google Reader is the default Google application for handling RSS news feeds, so Google doesn’t offer a separate RSS feed reader as a standard feature with its Gmail email service. Google Reader lets you add RSS feeds from multiple sources and read them all through the advanced Google Reader news feed interface. If you also want the convenience of accessing your favorite RSS feeds direct from Gmail, add a Gmail gadget to your account.

Enabling the Gmail Gadget

  • Gmail offers a gadget that you can use for RSS feeds from its “Labs” page of third-party applications. To get the gadget, sign in to your Gmail account, click the gear-shaped icon in the top right-hand corner and select “Mail Settings” from the drop-down context menu to open Gmail’s Settings page. Click the “Labs” tab at the top of the page and scroll to “Add Any Gadget by URL” in the list of gadgets. Use the “Search” feature at the top of the page if you have trouble finding the gadget. Click the “Enable” radio button next to the gadget’s name and description.

Adding the RSS Feed Reader Gadget

  • After enabling Add Any Gadget by URL, configure the gadget to work with RSS. Click the “Gadgets” tab at the top of the Settings page and paste “http://gad.getpla.net/feed/reader.xml” — without the quotes — into the “Add a Gadget by Its URL” input box to add the Mini Feed Reader gadget to Gmail. Click the “Add” button. Gmail adds the RSS feed reader to your Gmail home page.

Adding Your RSS Feed to the Gadget

  • By default, the RSS gadget displays a news feed from the CNN online news service. To add your own favorite RSS feed to Gmail, configure the gadget to fetch and display the feed. Get the address for your preferred RSS feed from the source website, blog or online service. You can usually right-click the orange RSS button on the source page and copy the RSS feed’s address. Scroll to the bottom of your Gmail home page and find the RSS feed reader pane under “Chat and SMS” in the left-hand column. Hover your mouse pointer over the RSS feed pane and click the wrench icon that displays to the left of the feed. Paste your RSS feed address into the input box and click the “Save” button. Gmail now displays your feed in the RSS pane.

How to Make Homemade Spy Gadgets

http://pad1.whstatic.com/images/thumb/f/f4/How-to-Get-Spy-Gadgets-Step-1.jpg/670px-How-to-Get-Spy-Gadgets-Step-1.jpg
From Harriet the Spy to James Bond, spy gear is sure to be a hit with your children. Let them make their own spy gadgets with items you can find or recycle around the house for hours of fun at no cost at all. From secret messages to invisible ink and fingerprint technology, your kids can bring excitement and intrigue to their play. Whether you are filling a rainy afternoon or planning a birthday party complete with dark glasses and trench coats, try these simple projects to make sure your kids are bowing to your super secret-agent powers.

Instructions

  1. Use lemon juice to send secret messages. Remember that blank paper is suspicious, so write something innocuous in standard ink. Professional spies suggest a grocery list. A pointed makeup applicator can work well as a pen with lemon juice, but many household items will allow you to write legibly in invisible ink. This is one of the easiest homemade spy gadgets. Apply heat to read your message.
  2. Make fingerprint powder for your spy kit. This homemade spy gadget will require adult assistance. Pour a small amount of cornstarch into a porcelain or stoneware saucer. Take a second saucer and apply a flame using a long-handled candle lighter or candle. Soot will quickly accumulate. Scrape the soot into the cornstarch and stir. Keep adding soot until you have a gray powder. Dust fingerprints with this powder and lift off with clear tape.
  3. Make a periscope to see over fences and around corners. Cut a 2-inch square in one end of your cardboard mailing tube with a craft knife. Cut a 2-inch diagonal slit at each corner of the square. Repeat on the other end of the mailing tube, cutting into the opposite side of the tube. Mount mirrors onto 3-by-4-inch cardboard squares with glue and insert into the slits in your tube. The mirrors should face one another. Use duct tape to close up the ends of your tube.
  4. Turn a pair of ordinary swim goggles into spy goggles. This homemade spy gadget is all about looks, but can be fun for children. Use a permanent marker to color in the lenses of your spy goggles. Avoid washable markers for this project.
  5. Add to the fun of homemade spy gadgets with an inexpensive digital camera or webcam hidden in a stuffed toy or other item. You might also consider passing along old cellular phones or Bluetooth headsets to your little spies.

How to Restore Vista Gadgets

http://img.techblissonline.com/wp-content/uploads/windows7-sidebar-gadgets.jpg
Microsoft® Windows Vista introduced Gadgets, which appear in a Sidebar on your computer desktop. Gadgets are useful tools, such as a clock, calendar, currency converter, stock information and news headlines updated continually from the Internet. Other Gadgets are just for fun, such as a picture puzzle and a slide show. Since the Sidebar is large and dominates the right or left side of your desktop, you may close it. But if you miss your Gadgets, you can restore them in a few moments.

Instructions

  1. Make the Sidebar visible on your desktop by clicking the “Start” button on the Windows taskbar. It’s usually in the lower-left corner of your desktop.
  2. Type “sidebar” in the “Start Search” box; then press “Enter.”
  3. Add a Gadget to the Sidebar by clicking the plus sign (+) at the top of the Sidebar to open the Gadget Gallery. (You may also right-click anywhere in the Sidebar; then select “Add Gadgets…”)
  4. Left-click a Gadget and drag it to the Sidebar. Position it anywhere; other Gadgets already there will move. If you select too many Gadgets, the Gadget on the bottom will scroll out of sight, but will reappear if you remove another Gadget.
  5. Keep Gadgets on the Sidebar visible at all times while you work (optional) by right-clicking anywhere on the Sidebar, then selecting “Properties.” Click the check box “Sidebar is always on top of other windows”; then click “OK.”

Homemade Spy Gadgets to Hide Stuff In

http://738081880.r.lightningbase-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/homemade-spy-gear.jpg
Diversion safes are everyday objects that have been hollowed out to allow smaller objects to be hidden within. For kids these are cool spy gadgets, and for adults diversion safes can be clever ways to keep thieves from stealing valuables in a hotel room or roommate situation. The number of ways to build a diversion safe is limited only by your imagination. Build one or two versions to keep your valuables safe from prying eyes.

Books

  • The book safe is one of the most common gadgets used to hide objects in. You can order book safes from catalogs, find them online or make them yourself. If you already have a great number of books in your home, this may be the best diversion safe type for you. Make one to match the most common books on your shelves, or create one from a phone book or old textbook and hide it in plain sight. Hollow out the middle of all but the first and last 30 pages of the book, glue the pages together into a block and put your valuables in the resulting empty space.

Toiletries

  • Diversion safe companies create whole lines of gadgets designed to look like common toiletries like shaving cream, soaps and deodorant cans. Make your own version by going through your bathroom and inspecting your personal items. Look on the bottoms of the container to see if you can create a space in which to hide items. Pull out a solid block of deodorant to slip money underneath. Bury a roll of cash in a large bottle of aspirin. Wrap your jewels in foil, then sink them into a conditioner bottle.

Stuffed Animals

  • Teddy bears have been doing double duty as nanny-cam holders for years now, and they make ideal receptacles for hiding items as well. Open up a seam in the back of the bear, insert a zip-top bag containing your valuables and stitch the bear back up. If you want the items to be more accessible, replace the stitching with some Velcro strips.

Candles

  • People have been hiding objects in candles for centuries, mostly by burying them in the wax. You can make a candle safe to hide your belongings that allows you to retrieve your things more easily. Use a very thick pillar candle and hollow out the entire inside core. Create an empty tube inside the interior of the candle. Leave about 1 inch of solid candle at the top and 1/2 inch on the side walls. Fill the hollow core with the items you want to hide, place the candle on a decorative plate, light the candle and blow it out. Place the candle and plate on a side table or shelf as decor.

Advantages & Disadvantages of Electronic Gadgets

Gadgets make many things more efficient.

Gadgets make many things more efficient, but like every other aspect of life, they come with their own set of disadvantages as well. As of 2011, electronic gadgets account for 15 percent of total household electricity consumption worldwide, as reported by the International Energy Agency. By 2022, that number will double, by current estimates.

Enabling LifestylesElectronic gadgets have seen a revolution. In the past, most gadgets served a single purpose: Phones called people; TVs showed television shows. Now, gadgets are evolving to be multi-purpose tools. Mobile phones today not only call, but most allow texting, email, web-surfing, and a host of other features. These gadgets, whether a computer or a phone, allow people to stay more organized, stay in constant communication, and gain access to the outside world much more easily than was ever possible without electronic gadgetry.

Business and WorkLaptop computers, personal digital assistants, known as PDAs, and smart phones eliminate the need for offices for some people. They make work possible that was once impossible without a physical office-hub. Now meetings can be held from nearly any location with a simple computer, microphone, and Internet access. The ability of websites to be established as hubs, working similarly to virtual stores, has also led to a revolution for consumers, opening up the world of Internet retail. The low cost of starting an online-based business as compared to a physical business also helps push entrepreneurialism.

Time and Health ConcernsElectronic devices are designed to save time and make people more efficient. For many people, though, the increase in new inventions take up more time. An efficient gadget might actually provide someone with less free time due to the assortment of additions it’s providing. Regarding health, concerns have been raised about cell phones and brain tumors; however, according to the National Cancer Institute, as of 2011, no link has been determined to exist. Another health concern is that gadgetry tends to require immobility. Video games commonly take some of the blame for rises in childhood obesity during recent decades.

Environmental ImpactA commonly overlooked negative side to electronic gadgetry is their environmental impact. Non-biodegradable, non-recyclable electronic gadgets often end up in landfills or are shipped to crude facilities in developing countries. Without safe and efficient means of recycling, electronic wastes are burned to salvage bits of metal – releasing toxic substances into the atmosphere, polluting the immediate environment and potentially nearby water resources as well. The rapid increase in the number of electronic gadgets, as projected by the International Energy Agency, not only means greater carbon dioxide emissions but also increasing energy demands that will need to be met.

How to Make Gadgets for Camping at Scouts

http://newgizmoblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/rukas-solar-3.jpg
Camping is an essential component of any successful scouting program. By learning to survive and thrive in the wilderness, scouts gain valuable skills of preparation and problem solving. Making gadgets for camping, such as washstands and clotheslines, helps develop these skills. Whenever possible, scouts should utilize the materials available at camp to make the camping experience smoother, cleaner and more organized. In some cases, however, additional materials may be required.

Instructions

  1. Create a simple storage box to keep kitchen utensils clean. Cut plywood into six identical squares big enough to hold utensils. Nail five pieces together to form three sides, the top and the bottom of a box. Attach the opening with a hinge on the fourth side. Orient the box so that the door opens downward and rests on a flat surface. Nail one end of a piece of rope to the top of the box and the other end to the top of the door. When the door is open, the rope should be pulled tight. If desired, create partitions inside the box for different items. When camping, prop the box on sticks or on a log to keep it off the ground.
  2. Fashion kitchen items, such as a washstand and plate rack, from sticks. For the washstand, elevate a bowl on a tripod of sticks. Make a plate rack by using string to lash vertical sticks perpendicular to horizontal sticks at regular intervals.
  3. Use wood to make kitchen utensils. With a knife, cut away a small, flat piece of wood. On one end, whittle an indent to fashion a spoon. Make tongs by lashing the ends of two curved sticks with string so that you can pinch together the other ends to pick up items.
  4. Assemble clotheslines by lashing sticks together in two tripod formations. Stretch a line of string between the two tripod bases. If necessary, tie the end of the line to stakes in the ground for extra security.
  5. Build a bulletin board by driving two large sticks into the ground approximately 2 feet apart. Lash a third stick to both upright sticks near the top. Fit another stick tightly beneath this one and secure it in place. Continue layering sticks underneath one another until you create a board surface. Campers can then attach messages by inserting them between the sticks. Create a protective covering by tying sticks perpendicular to the board at the top to make a small overhang.
  6. Construct a shoe scraper to keep mud from entering the campsite. Drive two forked sticks into the ground directly across from each other. Set another stick inside the forks. Scrape shoes against the stick to remove mud and debris.
  7. Prop open a trash bag with a portable garbage bag holder made from sticks. Lean three sticks together and secure them halfway down so that the top part of the sticks are spread apart. Stretch the trash bag opening over these sticks.

How to Build Spy Gadgets

Kids love playing spy. Gadgets don’t have to be expensive, though. Spy gadgets are easy to make using household items. Kids can play spy using a homemade spy ID card, a book safe or a keyhole spy tool. Spy gadgets can be made by the kids themselves or by an adult. Other fun uses for spy gadgets are props, party decorations or costume accessories.

Spy ID Card

  1. Paste the child’s picture on the left side of the index card. Allow the glue to dry before adding detail to the spy card.
  2. Use colored markers to write the name of the spy agency at the top of the card. Create a logo for the spy agency. The logo can be placed in the lower right or upper right-hand corner of card. Place it on the same side as the child’s picture.
  3. Create a line for the child’s code name. Draw a line on the right side of the front of the card–the same side the picture is on. Write the words “Code Name” above the line. Let the child choose their own code name. Underneath that line write the words “Real Name.” On this line, let the child write their real name.
  4. Flip the card over. On the back of the card, in the upper, left-hand corner, write the words “Issued by the (agency name) to the above mentioned agent. Skip a line, and write “This agent is active in covert operations. Agent’s identity to be protected at all times.” Skip another line and write, “Use codename in all situations.”
  5. Draw a black box in the right side of the back of the card large enough for a thumb print. Place the child’s thumb print in the inside of the box. Markers can be used for this or an ink pad if one is available.

Book Safe

  1. Open the book to page five. With a pencil and a ruler, draw a rectangle on the right page. Leave one 1 inch between the rectangle and the edge of the page.
  2. Cut the rectangle out of the pages using a craft knife or box cutter. Cut through the majority of the pages.
  3. Hide secret, spy items in the book safe. Place it back on the shelf, and the book is undetectable.

Keyhole Spy Gadget

  1. Cut a thick piece of black paper to equal the circumference of the clear marble. Wrap the paper tightly around the marble, creating a cylinder. Tape the cylinder together. The marble should be sticking out of one end of the cylinder.
  2. Stick the cylinder in large keyholes to look around a room. Look through the end without the marble. The image, because of the marble, will be upside down, however, because of way light reflects through the marble.
  3. Squeeze the keyhole gadget through tight spaces to spy around the house.

Importance of Using Gadgets in Teaching in School

http://static01.nyt.com/images/2011/09/04/us/schools-2/schools-2-popup.jpg
Teaching and learning in today’s schools can be quite challenging for teachers and students alike. Not only have expectations changed for the teachers, but students also are expected to learn a lot more and at an earlier grade than before. Using gadgets in the classroom, such as iPods, SmartBoards and digital electronic devices, satisfies the growing list of technology standards and prepares students for life beyond the K-12 classroom.

Technology Standards

  • Most school systems have technology standards that all students must attain at various points throughout their education. Education standards are guidelines that define the knowledge and skills students should possess during certain points throughout an academic year. And while the standards differ, the expectation that today’s students need to become more familiar with technology does not. In fact, many school systems offer county-wide teacher training for effective ways to implement the use of various gadgets such as SmartBoards, Mimios and Interactive Whiteboards. School systems invest a great deal of money into these devices to encourage and motivate educators to create interactive and engaging lessons.

Preparation for Real Life

  • The impetus for incorporating technology standards into the curriculum for most school systems is preparation for real life. Because society is becoming more technologically advanced, school systems are having to keep up with trends to better prepare students for life outside of school.

Makes Learning Interesting

  • Gadgets also help to make the learning environment interesting and engaging. As we move toward a more digital society, kids are being exposed to technology and digital devices at a young age. So when they come to school, they have little to no patience for lecture-style teaching. Students are seeking a high-tech, digital experience in the classroom. And while they may not get this exactly, with the continual use of various digital and high-tech gadgets, they are coming close. SmartBoards, Ipods, and Mimios are just a few of the gadgets that are improving the quality of education in today’s school.

Engages all Learning Styles

  • Since not all students learn in the same fashion, employing the use of gadgets in the classroom helps teachers reach all learning types. SmartBoards can engage the visual, audio and kinesthetic learners. Ipods can reach the audio and visual learners, while digital cameras and videos reach the kinesthetic learners. Using gadgets to engage all learners will facilitate the comprehension of content and allows for consistent progression in the teaching of material.

Offers Access to All Students

  • All too often, underprivileged kids will not have familiarity with new technological advances or devices outside of the classroom. The use of various gadgets within the classroom gives these students the opportunity to use devices and equipment that they would not ordinarily have access to.

How to Make Cool Gadgets for Your Room

http://m5.paperblog.com/i/51/515171/5-cool-gadgets-and-features-that-add-exciteme-L-OyPxkH.jpeg
How to Make Cool Gadgets for Your Room. Most young people have rooms filled with cool electronic gadgets, including TVs, stereo equipment, Play Stations and Game Boys. Here are two more cool gadgets for your room that anyone can make by following these steps.

Cool CD Picture Frame

  1. Buy two yards of 2 inch ribbon. Choose a solid bright color, metallic, plaid or some eye catching print that goes with the decor of the room. Cut ribbon in two equal lengths.
  2. Lay both lengths of ribbon side by side, right side out, about 3 or 4 inches apart on a newspaper covered flat surface.
  3. Using Gorilla glue, mount the CDs at equal distance apart down the middle of the double ribbons. Measure carefully so there is an equal distance of ribbon showing between each CD and at each end of the ribbons.
  4. Secure the hanging frame on the wall with a decorative tack on the ends of both the upper and both the lower ribbons. Tape small photos to each CD using double-sided tape. For interest, place the pictures at different angles.

Cool CD Dry Erase Board And Bulletin Board

  1. Place the dry erase board on a newspaper covered flat surface. Using Gorilla glue, securely glue CDs all around the frame at equal distance apart, or if you prefer, just touching each other. Mount each CD left or right of its center to allow as much free space on the board as possible.
  2. Mount new CD framed dry erase board on the wall using the hardware that came with the board or another appropriate hook.
  3. Use the CDs around the frame to display small pictures, mount sticky notes or other small items.
  4. Lay cork board bulletin board on protected flat surface. Glue CDs equally around the frame of the board. Use the same measurements for placement of the CDs as the framed dry erase board to make them look like a matched set! Glue the CDs toward the outer edge of the frame to preserve cork board space.

How to Get a Job Reviewing Gadgets

http://cdn.ndtv.com/tech/gadgets/hp_7_voicetab_cover1_ndtv.jpg
Gadget reviewers test the latest cell phones, GPS navigators and other high-tech toys and write about their findings for magazines, websites or their own blogs. Early access to new technology may sound attractive, but it’s not an easy field to break into. You must prove you’re tech-savvy enough to write an authoritative review, and, if you’re writing for your own website, you must establish your reputation and build an audience.

Enhance Your Tech Knowledge

  • You might have an interest in smartphones or be a fan of a certain brand of technology, but technology reviewers must be familiar with the entire gadget marketplace. Read other people’s reviews and learn about the array of technological innovations on the market. Though you don’t need to be a technology professional, some tech background can help you better understand and explain what you’re reviewing. A few college courses, for example, can help you understand the basics.

Hone Your Writing Skills

  • Gadget reviewers need excellent writing skills and the ability to understand and address the needs of their audiences. In many cases reviewers play a teaching role, helping readers understand how gadgets work and if something meets their needs. They must know how to present information step-by-step in a simplified fashion, but with enough detail to help consumers make responsible decisions. Moreover, they need insight into what consumers want and how they make decisions, combined with the ability to write for the everyday consumer.

Make a Name For Yourself

  • You likely won’t land high-profile gigs when you’re starting out, and will have to establish your reputation gradually. Read established tech sites and publications to get a feel for the writing style. Leave comments on posts and pitch an idea or two. Find a new angle on something you know the site regularly covers. Until you amass several clips, you might have to write for only a small fee. Editors might also ask you to submit the piece “on spec,” which means they won’t propose a fee until they read the article to determine if it’s a good fit.

Build a Blog

  • Many gadget reviewers operate their own blogs and websites. However, this can take a more significant investment of time and money than writing for other publications. Manufacturers likely won’t give you their products for free to review unless you have an established blog and a sizable following. Your site should look professional, and companies will also want to know how many visitors you receive per day. This may require spending several months paying for gadgets out-of-pocket or writing about general tech topics until you can prove yourself to the companies who make the products you want to review.

Contact Magazines and Web Sites

  • Both technology-focused and general consumer publications and web sites employ gadget reviewers. Web site Business Insider hires full-time gadget reviewers based at its New York City office, and requires applicants to have both strong writing skills and an enthusiasm for technology. They also need basic knowledge of the types of gadgets available. The website Ars Technica hires full-time work-from-home gadget reviewers and requires that candidates have at least two years of professional tech writing experience. The site prefers applicants in the New York, Chicago or San Francisco areas, or those who are able to travel.

8 Amazing Gadgets from this Year’s Consumer Electronics Show

The Micro 3D printer

The annual Consumer Electronics Show is a great place to put your finger on the pulse of technology. The show often sets the stage for what kind of tech will dominate headlines (and stores) through the year. Some years, CES bubbled over with HDTVs; other years it signaled the rise of smartphones, tablets, or 3D printers. This year was fascinating because many different technologies were on fire: personal fitness, home automation, 3D printing, drones, and bleeding edge entertainment were just some of the areas that had expansive pavilions and many companies vying for attention. There simply was no one (or even two) things you could say “this is what CES was about this year.”

To demonstrate that, I’ve rounded up 8 of the most interesting gadgets I encountered at CES this year.

1. 360-Degree Camera. Home automation and security was one of the hot topics at CES, and Allie (pronounced “all-ie,” like “self-ie”) has your back. It’s a camera that shoots 360 degree wrap-around video that captures everything around it – in all directions including above and below. What’s really happening is that Allie has two cameras and the video is stitched together in the camera in real time, but that’s almost beside the point because you can’t see the seams. You can pan around and zoom into the video – both live video streamed over the Internet and recorded video as well.

Allie 360-degree camera

2. Connected Toothbrush. Is your toothbrush not connected enough? Unlike some genuinely silly Bluetooth products I’ve seen in past CES years (like the Bluetooth fork that vibrated when you ate too quickly), Kolibree’s electric toothbrush has sophisticated sensors to make sure you spend enough time brushing each part of your mouth (yes, it knows where you are brushing). There’s even a companion smartphone app and game for grownups and kids to brush better. This isn’t the only connected toothbrush at CES, either; Oral-B had its own, but its wasn’t as impressive – it can’t track which parts of your mouth you are brushing, for example.

Kolibree toothbrush

3. Fitness Band for the Gym. Personal fitness was everywhere at CES, but what I liked about GymWatch was that it wasn’t yet another fitness wristband (of which there were seemingly dozens). GymWatch is a sensor that precisely measures your motion and works with an app to lead you through a complete exercise regimen (there are over 900 exercises in the program). You get real-time feedback to keep you on track throughout your workout.

GymWatch

4. Pet Tracking Collar. Fitness bands aren’t just for people. Last year we saw “doggie Fitbits” like the Whistle, and this year pet collars are doing even more – like helping you track down your lost pet. The Motorola Scout 5000 is a connected pet collar GPS (so you know where your pet is at all times), a wide angle camera (so you can see what Rover sees), and a speaker you can use to talk to your dog via an app on your phone. Packed with a slew of features, the Scout 5000 is one of the most impressive dog collars I’ve ever seen.

Motorola Scout 5000

5. Smart Yoga Mat. Since we’re throwing Bluetooth and Wi-Fi into stuff, how about your yoga mat? The SmartMat is a sensor-laden mat that helps you realize your yoga potential. It tracks, stores, and monitors your progress with the help of a mobile app, and serves as a sort of yoga instructor, helping you with your form as you perform your exercises.

6. Compact 3D Printer. Let’s be clear: There were a lot of 3D printers at CES. So many you could have spent an entire day just exploring 3D printers, and there wasn’t a lot to differentiate many of the models I saw there. The Micro, though, was a little different – it was incredibly small, meaning that you could bring this printer into your home and not have to dedicate an entire table or desk to supporting it. Indeed, this might be the most compact 3D printer ever. It also has a light, attractive design, and – if the designers are to be believed – a simple, effortless, consumer-friendly printing experience. This might be the 3D printer that makes it into my home office.

The Micros 3D printer

7. Futuristic Wheeled Vehicle. Last year, I was wowed and amazed by a demo of the OneWheel, a gyro-stabilized, one-wheeled electric skateboard. It wasn’t yet in production, but the company returned to CES this year with the final product in production – and riding it is like a cross between snowboarding and floating on a hoverboard. It remains my favorite, but there were other funky devices at the show this year, like IO Hawk – which is what you’d get if you stood on the wheels of a Segway but threw away everything else.

OneWheel

8. Virtual Reality Headset. If you are a gamer, you probably know about Oculus Rift, a former Kickstarter project that was bought by Facebook for $2B (yes, that’s a “billion”). The latest version of the headset was being demo’d at the show, and this head-tracking, 3D sound, high resolution display gadget adds up to the most fundamentally brain sizzlingly unbelievable entertainment experience of my life. The hyper-realistic demos were indescribably good – you have to wear a headset and see for yourself. Here’s to hoping a consumer version finally ships in 2015, because it is the future, here, now.

How to Make a Gadget Charging Station

http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/gadgetlab/2011/07/PCS1.jpg
With phones, cameras, MP3 players, portable game consoles and so on, the number of electronic gadgets in a household today can get overwhelming. The struggle to keep track of the right chargers and find enough outlets to plug them into has led to the use of dedicated “charging stations.” These can be a simple shelf or drawer and a power strip, or a commercially produced unit with numerous bells and whistles. If your needs lie somewhere in between, it is quick and easy to build your own station.

Letter Tray Charging Station

  1. Choose your letter tray. This is where your gadgets will sit while charging. Wood is ideal because it will withstand the later sawing without its structure being too badly weakened, while cardboard ones tend to be rather less durable. Metal wire trays are available, and have the advantage that wires can easily be threaded through the gaps, but your gadgets are more likely to sustain scratches if you use one of these.
  2. Gather your chargers together. Plug them all into the power strip, and use the cable ties to fasten them together. Put the last tie at least 9 inches from the ends with the gadget connectors on them, so that there is enough free cord to place each in its own slot later. If the cords are not all the same length, make loops in the longer ones to even them.
  3. Use the hacksaw to cut narrow slots into the back of the letter tray. These should be the same width as the power cords, and narrow to a “V” at the bottom so that the cords are gripped securely. Make sure that the slots are not too close together, or the wood between them may break.
  4. Feed the power cords into their slots with the connector ends inside the tray, pressing them down into the bottom of the slots so that they are held firmly. When your gadgets need charging, simply plug them in and place them in the tray.

The Disadvantages of Gadgets on Students

http://sekho.com.pk/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Advantages-and-Disadvantages-of-Mobile-Phone-for-Students.jpg
Modern technologies like television and computers provide identifiable educational advantages, such as greater access to information and more compelling presentations of that information. Over-use of technology, though, especially such gadgets as cell phones, iPods and video games, presents a whole range of problems which may interfere with a student’s ability to learn and attend to lessons.

Social Networking

  • Students who use their computers or cell phones to participate in social networking sites may post material considered inappropriate by school authorities. They may also develop an unfavorable reputation based on those pictures or comments. Pictures of misbehavior can adversely affect their chances of getting into the university of their choice or of getting a job.

Addictions

  • It is easy to become addicted to gaming, texting, talking on the phone or socializing online. Some students may attempt to do this in class, which disrupts their learning, and at home it detracts from study time. Kids putting in long hours on their gadgets will give less attention to assignments and may be irritable when they are away from their gadgets. They might also sleep less, which can slow down their thinking the next day.

Creativity

  • In the past, children and young people filled up their free time by reading books, socializing, or engaging in active, creative play. A fixation on gadgets reduces participation in of all these, especially the aspect of creativity. Digital worlds can be vast, but they are always structured, not requiring the imagination and inventiveness of unstructured play. Some children become less creative and less able to entertain themselves.

Health

  • Persistent use of high-tech gadgetry can lead to a slew of health problems for young and old alike. A sedentary lifestyle discourages exercise and encourages obesity. The back-lit screens used for computers, iPhones and video games can cause eye problems. Walking around everywhere with music blaring directly into your ears brings on headaches and hearing difficulties. The net effect of all these things, plus the pressure of immediate responses to everything, can become stressful.

Your Brain

  • In The Mail Online, neurologist Susan Greenfield says that technology use changes our brains and not always for the better. Just thinking about doing something — such as performing an action in a video game — affects your brain nearly as strongly as actually doing it. There is circumstantial evidence linking a rise in Attention Deficit Disorder with increased use of video games, causing many scientists to worry that children may do permanent harm to their brains by spending too much time interacting with such gadgets.

The Advantages of Using Electronic Gadgets in Teaching in School

http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/03020/education-ipads-hi_3020605b.jpg
As technology becomes more prevalent in everyday life, schools have an obligation to ensure that students are prepared to use that technology in the workplace. Beyond the obligation, however, are myriad advantages to using technology and electronic gadgets in the classroom.

Quality of Information

  • With technology and the availability of Internet in the classroom, an entire world of information opens up to students. No longer restricted to outdated textbooks or the knowledge of the teacher, the students have access to the world’s most up-to-date and relevant information from diverse global sources. They also have access to sources with a more exciting or interactive approach to the subject. With experience, students learn to quickly distinguish between reputable and non-reputable sources, enabling them to glean large amounts of information in a short time.

Peer Collaboration

  • The constantly evolving nature of technology encourages students to work collaboratively to find information and complete projects. It also facilitates peer tutoring, with the quicker and more adept students taking over a teaching role to help the weaker students. The vast amount of information and possibilities that technology brings also invites discussion among students, who are quick to comment on others’ work and ask for feedback on their own. Technology in the classroom encourages (and perhaps necessitates) the sharing of knowledge and skills among students with disparate backgrounds and abilities, and thus has a unifying effect on classmates.

Behavior and Attitudes

  • A U.S. Department of Education study on technology and eduction reform found that mastery of technology is a significant source of increased self-esteem and self-confidence, particularly when students use their knowledge to help other students. Students realize how important technology is to future success; thus, technical aptitude can become a crucial motivator. The George Lucas Educational Foundation has also noted among students a stronger tendency to stay on task and reduced behavioral problems when students are engaged in an activity that utilizes technology.

Learning Options

  • Technology has none of the barriers of traditional teaching methods, such as lecturing, which is typically structured toward a specific learning style. It caters to virtually every learning style. With technology, students have the option of learning visually, textually, through auditory means or even with a hands-on approach, manipulating physical objects instead of simply watching or reading about them. One student may extract understanding from a well-written article online, while another may get the same information from a YouTube video. Teachers now have far more flexibility in their lesson plans along with resources for reaching and engaging every student. With so many technological options available to accommodate different learning styles, the chances for student success increases significantly.

Bad Effects of Electronic Gadgets

Gadgets like portable games can have a negative impact on an individual's health.

Technology is an integral part of our day-to-day lives. People all over the world rely on it for things like communication, organization and employment. Not a day goes by when you don’t encounter someone talking on his cell phone, tapping away on a laptop or listening to an MP3 player. While this technology is impressive, there are certain drawbacks in areas like health, public safety and education that should be addressed. Being aware of these dangers can help diminish or reverse these drawbacks.

Car AccidentsThere is no question that cell phones have become a staple of modern society. Even young children use them, much to the chagrin of their parents or teachers. A common belief is that cell phones can cause adverse effects like brain cancer. However, a study by the World Health Organization (WHO) concluded that this is not true. Regardless, there are other hazards. According to the WHO, mobile phones are a serious problem when driving, increasing reaction time between 0.5 and 1.5 seconds. This short span of time can make a world of difference when avoiding a collision. They further state drivers on a phone have trouble judging speed and staying in their lanes. Even hands-free headsets pose a distraction. The WHO concludes that drivers who talk on their cell phones are four times more likely to get in an accident.

Hearing ProblemsAccording to the website Healthy Hearing, one-third of teenagers own an MP3 player, such as an iPod. Dr. Craig Kasper, Director of Audiology at the New York Otolaryngology Group, warns that these devices can cause ear damage if used improperly. If the volume is too high or if the individual listens for a long time, hearing damage can happen. Also, earbuds are more dangerous than regular headphones. Healthy Hearing recommends that listeners keep the volume below 70 percent and limit listening time to between 60 and 90 minutes. If you want to listen indefinitely, turn the volume down to 50 percent.

Physical Injury and ObesityHand-held video game consoles are very popular in the developed world. While they can be entertaining, excessive play can be detrimental. One problem is video game addiction, which can be disruptive to a person’s psychological health. Other reported issues include seizures, neck pain, wrist pain and repetitive strain injury. Prolonged use also contributes to a sedentary lifestyle, resulting in obesity.

Academic ImpactText slang, such as “ur” instead of “you’re” is commonly used through cell phone texting. However, a recent study shows that kids and teens are actually letting these obscure abbreviations seep into their normal writing. A recent study by Pew Internet in 2008 revealed that 50 percent of students use informal slang in their assignments. Furthermore, 38 percent admit they have used abbreviations in their schoolwork like “LOL”, which stands for “laugh out loud”. Additionally, 25 percent say that they use emoticons such as “smiley faces” in formal writing. The problem has become so apparent that some U.S. politicians are concerned that the English language and sentence structure is being twisted, negatively affecting students’ learning.

How to Build Homemade Electronic Spy Gadgets

http://hackedgadgets.com/wp-content/2/auto_spy_remote_1.jpg

How to Get a Job Reviewing Gadgets

http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/styles/big-image/public/brands/Apple/Apple_Watch/Review/apple-watch-review-2.jpg?itok=oev-V-gY

How to Reset Gadget Settings

http://omgdgt.com/images/10072014/reset-to-factory-settings-does-not-guarantee-the-erasure-of-personal-data-with-android-devices-0.jpg
Microsoft introduced Windows 7 in 2009. The operating system allows users to personalize their desktops with gadgets. There are gadgets for Windows 7 that display the weather, news and calendars. Users can move their gadgets around the desktop and place them anywhere they choose. Like other software components, gadgets sometimes crash and need to be reset. You can reset your gadgets and gadget settings using Windows’ “Restore Gadgets” option.

Instructions

  1. Click on the “Start” menu.
  2. Type “Restore Gadgets” in the “Start Search” box.
  3. Click “Restore desktop gadgets installed with Windows.” Windows will restore your gadgets to their original settings.

How to Make a Gadget Charging Station

http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/ab185/zrammedia/2-2013/chargers_zpse1be9053.jpg

How to Add Gadgets to My Web Page

http://img-aws.ehowcdn.com/615x200/ds-photo/150/93/fotolia_1459017_XS.jpg
If you own a website, you can improve it by adding interactive components. Maybe you already offer polls or quizzes, or Flash video or the ability for users to log in and manage their own user page. You might offer games. You might offer forums where people can sign in and take part in your online community. Interactive components like these have been around for years, but you can add new means of interactivity and fun to your site with Google “gadgets.” They consist of bits of code that can turn your website into a truly unique, fun piece of online real estate.

Instructions

  1. Visit the home page for Google gadgets (find the link under Resources) and peruse the many gadgets, which include games, weather trackers, news aggregators, and radio stations.
  2. When you find a gadget you want, click on the “Add to my web page” button beneath the gadget’s sample image.
  3. Adjust the settings in the “preview” pane. The Preview pane will include the different settings for a given gadget. Often you can change colors and add borders so the gadget will match your site settings.
  4. Set the size of the gadget so it fits your web page. If your web page measures 400 pixels wide by 600 pixels in height, you’ll want a gadget that fits within that page without crowding it. In the left side of the Preview pane, you can set the height to something like 300 pixels and the width to 200 pixels. The gadget will automatically be set to that size, and you can adjust the settings until the height and width fits your site perfectly.
  5. Click “Get the code.” The HTML code powers the gadget on your website. Look for the button beneath the settings panel.
  6. Copy the code by first double-clicking it. Once you select the code, right-click it, and select “Copy” from the window.
  7. Paste the code onto your website. You will need to open your HTML web page using a text editor or freeware HTML editor. Paste the copied code in the HTML page where you want the gadget to appear.
  8. You will then need to use a file transfer protocol (FTP) program to log onto your server and upload your new web page with the gadget. Enter your website name, your server user name and your password into the FTP program. Once the FTP program connects to your server, upload the file into the public directory, so people can view the page and enjoy the gadget.

How to Open Gadget Files

http://oikonomos.eu/img/68245-w7-gadgets-files.jpg
With the release of Windows Vista in the fall of 2008, Microsoft announced the addition of the “Windows Sidebar” as one of the features of the operating system. The sidebar offers a number of utilities—from clocks to web search text-fields—in the form of “gadgets,” which dock together or float apart on the desktop. Gadgets may be downloaded from Microsoft’s Windows Live Gallery or from third-party gadget support sites. In either case, the files are simple to download and take seconds to open with the sidebar application.

Instructions

  1. Go to the Windows Live gallery online and find a gadget you would like to open with Windows Sidebar. Click the “Download” button below the preview image.
  2. Review the displayed warning. Windows Live Gallery warns that the gadget you are about to download was developed by someone other than Microsoft, but generally speaking, the gadgets are perfectly safe to download.
  3. Click “Open” with “Windows Sidebar” selected as the application to open the file. When the download is complete, the gadget will automatically open in Windows Sidebar.
  4. If the gadget has already been downloaded to your computer and you simply want to open the file, start by navigating to the .gadget file. Double click the item to open it as a gadget in Windows Sidebar.

How to Read Consumer Product Reviews

http://ulikethisnoweh.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Christmas-gift-for-boyfriend1.jpg
There are thousands of individuals and companies that offer consumer product reviews, especially on the Web. When reading these reviews, you want to know if you should spend your hard-earned money on the product. Reviewers know that you are pondering this question. There are reviewers who will provide you with false information so they can earn money from advertisers. If the review sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Instructions

  1. Look for wording in the review that indicates whether or not the reviewer has actually tried the product. If the reviewer tries the product, it makes his review much more credible than if he gives a review based on the consensus of others.
  2. Look for the product’s highlights to determine its good features. Look for notes about its downside to determine its shortcomings. If there are no negatives mentioned, be leery. Read other review websites about the product to get an accurate consensus.
  3. Compare the highlights and the downside to see if the good outweighs the bad. Read further to get the overall review of the product. The overall review will indicate whether the reviewer thinks you should invest your money in the product or save your money.
  4. Read the comments of other product users who post responses to the product review. If comments from the users are mostly negative and the product reviewer gave the product high ratings, let the user comments be your thermostat. It is likely that the review is a biased and one-sided opinion to lure you into buying the product.

How to Make Money Writing Video Game Reviews

http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/bb1f4xw0hgd2qisce2so.jpg
While it is extremely hard to make a living writing about video games and video game reviews, it is possible to make money writing video game reviews and this article will tell you how.

Instructions

  1. Write the video game or system reviews. These could be individual articles (like a review of Fable II), or comparative (why Oblivion still kicks Fable II’s a**, for example). Be creative. The larger the variety of reviews you have, the more likely you are to make money selling those video game reviews.
  2. Look at uploading those articles to Constant Content. You can set your prices and choose which rights to sell. Want credit? Sell only the usage rights. Want the money? Sell full rights for $30 more. This is a good marketplace for reviews, particularly for new video games, and I’ve sold several video game reviews from here.
  3. After the article is accepted, rewrite the review and sell it to Associated Content for an up front payment, as well as a PPV (pay per views) bonus. This won’t make you a lot of money, but it will begin a small stream, and I’ve received a lot of work from people who first saw my articles on AC – so this could lead to something better.
  4. If you have a Squidoo and Hubpages account, you can make more detailed web pages on the games and/or systems you’re reviewing, and offer products for sale as an affiliate, links to your AC articles or blog, and you can profit this way, as well.
  5. If you know a lot about SEO and Internet Marketing, consider making your own web page/blog and putting your reviews on there with Adsense and affiliate links. While this could potentially make you a lot of money writing video game reviews, you really need to be good at Internet Marketing, SEO, and understand that this will take a lot of work and time to really pay off, but it can be lucrative and this step goes very well with the Squidoo lenses and Hubpages hubs.
  6. Read print magazines based around video games, and figure out which sections are open to freelance writers. Submit your articles accordingly.

How to Conduct Employee Reviews

http://catalejo.biz/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Frustrated_man_at_a_desk-e1435287321209.jpg
Employee reviews are a great way to make sure workers and employers are seeing eye to eye when it comes to expectations and performance. Especially in a large company, where the individual worker can get lost among the mass, it’s important to put time aside to address both the positive and negative aspects of an employee’s performance along the year.

Conduct Employee Reviews

  1. Decide the purpose of the review beforehand. Whether you want to evaluate the general performance of a worker in the company or you want to address productivity or suggest changes, give the employee advance warning so he has the chance to work harder on the specifics between reviews.
  2. Be consistent. Create a table or questionnaire that you can use as a guide to help you assess where the employee is and where you expect him to be. Use the same questions month after month to see how the answers are changing. Some employers prefer a numbered table or a pre-established list of qualifying factors, but what you choose is not as important as how you use it.
  3. Decide on timing for the reviews. Monthly is probably too often, unless the company is completely sell-driven and needs to make sure that workers are meeting their quotas. Otherwise, it’s probably wiser to conduct employee reviews no more than twice a year. Setting specific, fixed times can also make it less stressful for everybody involved, as people will have time to prepare for the meetings.
  4. Offer feedback. This means letting the employee know about both his weaknesses and strengths. You can give suggestions on how changes can be implemented, or ask the employee how he sees his future position and what he would like to do to make it better.
  5. Conduct reviews in a positive atmosphere, without rushing the process or making it feel like a do-or-die situation. Schedule enough time with each employee so that you can listen to his concerns or request for changes. If at all possible, let everyone know how long the review will be, so there are no surprises when the time comes.

How to Compare Washing Machine Reviews

https://www.surfexcel.in/wp-content/uploads/sites/14/2015/01/front-load-washing-machine-vs-top-load-washing-machine.png
Comparing washing machine reviews can be a confusing exercise without a basic understanding of how to make sense of all the included information. First time buyers and those for whom buying a washing machine is task long since forgotten, choosing among machines with the latest technology and advancements can be made easier and less daunting by going at it with a plan. Being able to decipher the reviews will help you to choose the washer that best fits your laundry needs and budget.

Instructions

  1. Determine whether the review is based on specifications and features or actual usage or testing. Features and specs do not tell the full story. A washer with a higher spin speed does not always wring the laundry more effectively. Actual testing or reviews after usage will paint a more accurate picture.
  2. Compare the washers reviewed to accurately judge their differences. Steam washers should be compared to steam washers and front-loaders should be evaluated against other front-loaders. Choosing from two different styles often reveals a gap in price and features that does not allow for a proper comparison.
  3. Consider space if you have limited room in your home’s laundry area. A high-capacity washer does not necessarily have to be the largest washer. Check the dimensions to see whether the size of washing machine you want will be able to fit, with a dryer, in your laundry room.
  4. Keep the dryer in mind if you have limited space or would like to stack your washer and dryer. Washing machines that are stackable are most stable when stacked with compatible dryers from the same manufacturer. Compare reviews for compact washers with an eye toward the accompanying dryer and its features.

How to Get Customer Reviews on Google

http://www.builtformarketing.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/How-to-get-Google-Review-stars-300x300.jpg
With its extensive amount of consumer information, Google can effectively make or break your business. When clients and customers leave reviews, it often bumps up your information in search results and makes you seem more desirable to more clients. Poor reviews have the opposite effect. Regardless, the trick is to garner as many reviews on Google as possible to establish yourself as a leading and popular business on the Web and improve your chances for growth.

Instructions

  1. Navigate to places.google.com and then click “Places for business.” Click “Sign up for a new Google account” and fill out the required information to register with Google Places. Google Places is an online database of physical and virtual businesses, where customers can search through businesses, learn more general information and leave reviews. To have a Google Places account, you must have a physical mailing address.
  2. Solicit reviews promptly after a transaction. Waiting to send an email requesting a review weeks or even months after a transaction means your customer might ignore the request simply because he doesn’t remember the transaction. Ensure that all requests for reviews are attached to confirmations or a followup email after an item has been shipped or a service performed.
  3. Link to your Google Places page from your business website. That way, customers can review your business after a transaction or during the transaction process. Create a button for your homepage that says something to the effect of “Rate Us!” so customers know to click and be redirected to Google Places, where they can leave positive or negative feedback, depending on your performance.
  4. Attach a link to order and shipping confirmation emails that entices customers to leave a review on Google for you. If you own a physical business, create a small flyer with your Google Places address and a request to leave feedback about a customer’s overall transaction results. This makes leaving a review a simple process so customers needn’t go searching for your Google Places page.
  5. Offer an incentive to those customers who leave feedback. For instance, if you have a physical business, customers can print out their Google Places feedback page and receive a percentage off of their next orders. Or, for an online business, create a coupon code specifically for customers who leave reviews. Leaving a review takes time, so offering a reward for that time helps entice customers.

How to See Your Reviews on Craigslist

http://www.tomharken.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Get-CL-Traffic-Bananas-Download-and-Review.jpg
Unlike sites such as Ebay and Amazon, Craigslist doesn’t have a review system in place that allows your buyers to leave comments about their transactions with you. To combat this missing rating system, the CraigRep website provides a way for you to receive comments about your Craigslist transactions. Because CraigRep was created specifically to allow reviews for Craigslist, you can see them in your Craigslist ads.

Instructions

  1. Create an account on CraigRep (craigrep.com). Log in to CraigRep with your existing Google account information or create an account from scratch.
  2. Invite Craigslist sellers and buyers to write a review after each transaction. Log in to your CraigRep account and click on “Invite Someone to Review You.” Enter the person’s email address. Enter a message about the item or service he purchased from you, if desired. Press “Send.”
  3. Click on “View Your Reviews” in CraigRep. Scroll down to read the comments. A five-star rating system appears at the top of the page, and the stars fill in based on your customers’ ratings of you.
  4. Post a link to your reviews in your next Craiglist ad. In CraigRep, click on “Put Your Rating on a Craigslist Post.” Click on the “Copy” button, then paste the link at the bottom of your Craigslist ad. This creates a “View My CraigRep” link on your ad and shows your customer rating on the five-star system. Submit your ad.
  5. Click on your ad in Craigslist. Click on the “View My CraigRep” link. Clicking the link will take you to the “View Your Reviews” CraigRep page where you can read your reviews from your Craigslist customers.

How to Write Online Movie Reviews that Get Noticed

http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/fuji-x-t1/YDSCF5113-600px.jpg
Fancy yourself a couch-side movie critic? Have you ever considered writing online movie reviews so that others might enjoy reading your ideas on movies they are considering seeing? If so, it’s easier than ever to get started. Following these simple steps can help you learn to develop online movie reviews that get noticed.

Instructions

  1. Read current online movie reviews written by the most highly-rated critics to get ideas about how to structure your online movie review. A great place to start is the Movie Review Query Engine. This site offers an array of movie reviews written by independents, as well as those written by more widely-known critics.
  2. Search out the latest films at the box office or the most newly released dvds. This information is easily found at websites, such as: DVDFile, Amazon, Netflix, or Rotten Tomatoes. By writing about new releases, you are assured that others will be interested in the films you review. This gets your online movie reviews noticed, giving you greater visibility and more rankings.
  3. Go to the cinemaplex or rent the dvd you are interested in reviewing. When you first start writing online reviews, it is best to write about movies you actually enjoyed. It takes more skill to critique movies you find less than enjoyable.
  4. Write some mock-ups or drafts of your movie reviews before putting them online. Keep your reviews at less than 400 words, avoid spelling errors, check your facts (i.e. director’s name, actors’ names) and reference them in the review.
  5. Give your honest opinion! That’s the reason people read reviews. They want to hear what reviewers truly feel about the films they’re interested in. So, tell them your thoughts about the acting, the direction, the cinematography, the flaws, the strengths of the film. Be straightforward and concise.
  6. Tell readers what the movie is about, but try not to give away plot details. If someone gets the whole plot by reading your review, you’ve told them more than they need to know. Keep it simple.
  7. Join an online community that accepts and publishes “user” reviews. This is the easiest way to get your online movie reviews seen and ranked by a large number of people. The best place to start is at Amazon. All you are required to do is get a user name, user ID, and password, and you’re on your way to becoming an online film reviewer. There are many other online communities where you can put your online film reviews. Just a little research, and you could be the next Roger Ebert!

How to Write Comic Book Reviews

http://www.havingfunsaving.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/my-comic-book-steven2.jpg
Writing comic book reviews is a joy for me. I get to pick what I want to write about, I learn about the aspects of a good story and sometimes I even make money writing comic book or graphic novel reviews. Does any of that sound nice? The following steps focus on writing the basic comic book review.

Instructions

  1. Start with the classics. If you want to become a comic book reviewer, you need to know the basics of this vast world. That means exploring titles like “Watchmen” and “The Dark Knight Returns,” and the writers behind them. Who is Alan Moore? Who is Frank Miller? Who is Neil Gaiman? You should be able to answer those questions if you want to write comic book reviews, since many titles are similar in theme and need to be compared.
  2. Explore publishers outside of Marvel and DC. Sure, it’s fun reading 20 straight issues of Spider-Man or Batman. But as a comic book reviewer, you need to learn about small publishers, too. These comic publishers need your help more than the big two.
  3. Decide your article slant, or thesis. You need to see the slant in writing style and artwork for this comic book. It will become the thesis for your review. This isn’t a school essay, since you are out to entertain and not explain, but developing a thesis can help you write the review. Is this a horror comic? What do you think of horror comics? Ask a question and find an answer in the story.
  4. Ask questions of the story. Entertain readers by explaining the themes of this story. Even an old Spider-Man comic from the 1960s has a theme; all stories do. So ask questions, compare and contrast, all because you want to write a good review.
  5. Write a 200- to 400-word review. Can you write a 400-word review of a 22-page comic book? Yes, but you usually don’t have to. If you are writing a graphic novel review, or a review of a trade, you have more material to review, so it actually isn’t that hard. But if you offer the main theme of the single-issue comic story, background on characters, an analysis of the artwork and a general discussion on its entertainment value, you can often push the 400-word review mark.
  6. Ask for review copies and take joy in the fact people are reading your work. Because they are reading your work, whether it’s for a site like Silver Bullet Comic Books or your own comic blog, someone wants to read your stuff. The bigger publishers might not respond to requests for review copies, but some will, and you will get free comics. Isn’t that fun? From now on, you can pick what you read and save money doing it.

How to Make Money Writing Reviews

Writing reviews of products, both hard-copy and digital, can generate more than a part-time income. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 76 percent of individuals live in a household with Internet access. Pew Internet reports that 78 percent of adults use the Internet to research products and 71 percent to buy products. You can turn those numbers into cash in your bank account.

Instructions

  1. Make a list of your experiences and interests that would fit with writing reviews. For example, you might be a high-tech whiz kid. If that’s the case, writing reviews about technology products for consumers or businesses would be a good fit. If you love cooking, then reviewing cookbooks, cooking utensils and appliances, food products and gourmet stores could work for you.
  2. Go to online retail, auction and search engine sites to find the most popular product categories and keyword phrases. Those are the products you should review and the phrases you’ll need.
  3. Register a domain using the keyword phrase you’ve selected and “review” as the URL. If that URL is taken, add your first name as part of the URL. Some products, such as food, could have a more general URL, such as quickandeasymenus.com.
  4. Set up a blog using the control panel of your domain host. Exactly how you do it depends on your host. In most cases, it’s turnkey: You literally push a button and the blog sets itself up.
  5. Design an appropriate graphic or have one designed for you to use on the blog. Search for a royalty-free graphic site, which won’t require you to pay for use of the photo. Photos attract visitors. If you’re reviewing a food product, for example, look for photos of the product itself, but you also can use photos of dishes or ingredients associated with the product.
  6. Select the products you want to review. Find sites that sell the products and have affiliate programs and sign up for a program. Look for popular products with customer reviews already in place. Some sites, such as Commission Junction and Neverblue, require that you have already established a website, which they review before approval. Other sites, such as Amazon.com and Clickbank.com, don’t require that the website or blog be up and running.
  7. Write a review of the product with a link to the retail site, using your affiliate code. Post it on your blog. Write as if you were writing to a good friend, describing the product and why it’s the best choice.
  8. Drive traffic — visitors — to your blog by posting backlinks, one-way links to your blog from another blog or website; participating in forums relevant to the products you review; and submitting articles to article directories that link back to your blog.
  9. Make money when a visitor clicks on the product affiliate link on your blog and purchases the product. You earn a commission, or percentage of the price of the product.

Beta testers are individuals who try newly created or updated products before release by companies to the general public. As a beta tester, your job would be to give feedback on how well a particular product works and to identify strengths and weaknesses, so the product can be changed, revamped or corrected. In most cases, no monetary compensation is given. However, you are able, in many instances, to receive free products for agreeing to do beta testing.

Instructions

  1. Sign up for Microsoft Playtest. They are seeking testers to play and offer opinions on new Xbox, Xbox 360 and PC games. You first must sign up and provide information on the kinds of game genres you most like to play. Your information then gets put in a database. When a game study that matches your criteria comes up, you will be contacted. If you are picked for a particular study, you will be provided with the location of the study. You will be rewarded with free software. While all ages are welcome to participate, children 12 years old and younger must have a parent enroll on their behalf and give signed consent within a month of signing up. You are limited to a maximum participation in one study every couple of months. While most testing is in the Seattle area, Microsoft Playtest also offers some opportunities to those who live in other areas of the country.
  2. Test products and give a female viewpoint on them. When you join as a member of She Speaks, you are entered into a large database to test products. You have to take an initial survey to determine your interests and hobbies to match you with the best products. Once they find individual products suited to your interests, they invite you to try them, mail them out for you to try for free and keep if you agree and send you a survey to get your opinion.
  3. Register for Bzzagent. Register for free and get the opportunity to try free new product samples, then spread the word about products you like.
  4. Apply to become a product tester for AmazingProducts. They seek individuals to try new As Seen On TV home and garden gadgets and offer honest feedback on what you find both positive and negative about the products. After you apply, you will be contacted by email with a request to provide a 500-word product review. If you are approved, you have to wait to be randomly selected to test products.
  5. Consider signing up for House Party. The objective is to throw a chosen-themed house party for friends and family members or both. All you need to do is extend an invitation to come over and take a look at some specific new products from companies like Hasbro, McDonald’s, Gerber, Kraft Foods and more. View upcoming party events at their website for the parties you want to host. You get free party favors, food and products sent to you.

18th Birthday Gift Ideas for Boyfriends

http://i01.i.aliimg.com/wsphoto/v0/1717700491_1/Small-gift-birthday-gift-font-b-ideas-b-font-white-valentine-s-day-girls-boyfriend-girlfriends.jpg

As his girlfriend, you always want to get him the perfect present, but you may feel especially pressured to make his 18th birthday special. Your boyfriend’s 18th birthday is a milestone, bringing him into the realm of legal adulthood. Whether your budget is $20 or $100, you can find that birthday gift that stands apart from the others and makes you the coolest girlfriend ever.

Gadgets

  • A man’s toys are his electronic gadgets. If your boyfriend is an aspiring musician, he’ll get a kick out of an electronic tabletop finger drum set or an iKaraoke microphone, which hooks up to his iPod and isolates the lead vocal track so he can be the frontman. Many guys love practical gifts with a twist, such as a USB drive in the shape of his favorite car or cartoon character. New earbuds for his MP3 player, a customized cover for his cell phone or a case for his digital camera are also smart tech choices.

Gift Basket

  • Fill a basket with 18-themed gifts, including items you have to be at least 18 years old to purchase and gifts in sets of 18. then he can celebrate with that cigar and lighter in the basket. Add something sweet to the basket with 18 of his favorite candy bars or homemade cookies. Express your feelings with 18 romantic notes, 18 poems or a mix CD with 18 love songs.

Tickets

  • Tickets to a special event are another way to celebrate his landmark birthday. Tickets to an 18-and-over live music or comedy club are one option if you’re also old enough to get inside (or you’re willing to let him go with his friends). Take him to see his favorite sports team, his favorite band in concert, a monster truck rally or a play, depending on his taste. A day trip to an amusement park, a museum or a music, food, tech or sci-fi festival might make his 18th birthday especially memorable.

Gift Ideas for 18 Year Old Boys

http://kidslovethisstuff.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/cool-present-for-11-year-old-boy.jpg
The age of 18 generally marks the time when a young man graduates from high school and enters the workforce or college. It’s important to keep this in mind when coming up with gift ideas for 18 year old boys. Regardless of whether the gift is for graduation, a birthday or just to commemorate a sentimental moment, with a little consideration it will be easy to find a gift he will love.

Gadgets

  • Teen guys tend to love gadgets, and when they hit 18, there are several on the market that can be particularly useful and/or entertaining to them. When thinking about which gadget would best suit his needs, consider his hobbies, interests and also which gadget would make his life easier.

For example, gifts.com suggests giving young adult men a vibrating alarm clock that not only sounds off at the appropriate time, but literally can shake a sleepy guy awake. This can be very useful for 18-year-olds who are entering their first year of college and have a tough time getting up for early morning classes.

In addition, palm-sized or mini DVD players are cool gadget gift ideas for young guys who like to travel and get bored sitting on the plane.

Apple’s IPad is also a cool gift idea for 18-year-old guys. It functions as a mini laptop and is easy to carry around and travel with.

Gift Cards

  • When you’re stumped about what to get him as a gift, a gift card is a great idea. This takes the pressure off of you in terms of finding the perfect present, and allows him to get something that he really wants.

Consider his interests and where he likes to shop when picking up gift cards. For example, if he loves to buy clothes from a specific store in the mall, get a gift card from there. Or, if he is a movie buff, pick up a gift card or certificate that entitles him to a few free movie passes and treats from the concession stand.

If he’s heading off to college, giving him a gift certificate from a department store like Target or Walmart can be particularly valuable as he picks up supplies for classes and his dorm room.

Choose a gift certificate in an amount you can afford. If you have it in your budget to give a gift certificate that amounts to $50 – $100, that is fantastic. But, if you can only afford a gift card that ranges from $10-$25, that is fine as well.

DVDs and Popcorn

  • Regardless of whether he is a movie buff or just has a few favorite films, surprise him with a DVD and popcorn gift set. In order to do this, head to a video store and choose a few newly released films that fall into the genre that he tends to like, such as comedy or action. Then, head to a gourmet store or cooking supply store and pick up a bag of gourmet popcorn and a special seasoning if it’s available.

Place the gourmet popcorn and DVDs in a nice gift bag and add a card for the occasion.

How to Escape Special Character in SQL

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aopRuOXVFZw/TswxaU9Y6pI/AAAAAAAALr8/Uv0g4yR3zDo/s400/tc_wasps_2.jpg
One of the most common causes of errors in programming is when the developer forgets to escape special characters while coding. This type of error can also affect Structured Query Language (SQL) code. SQL is a language designed for managing large databases. When writing SQL code, you sometimes have to use special characters while creating variables, such as single or double quotes. If you don’t escape those characters, the computer will treat those characters as if they were part of your SQL code instead of being part of the variable’s content. You can use some escaping characters to avoid this problem.

Instructions

  1. Place an additional single quote before each single quote you want to escape. This will tell your computer or server not to consider the single quote as part of the SQL code.
  2. Place an additional double quote before every double quote you want to escape.
  3. Place a forward slash before each underscore you want to escape and insert the following function on the same line: ESCAPE ‘/’
  4. Place a backward slash before each percentage symbol you wish to escape and insert this function on the same line: ESCAPE ‘\’

How to Buy The Best Geek Gadgets and Techie Gifts for Techies

http://ideas.homelife.com.au/media/images/9/0/7/8/0/907815-1_ll.jpg
Buying gifts for techie friends, husbands or relatives is not easy – especially if you are a not a “techie” yourself. Common gifts for techies are geek gadgets, high tech equipment, and anything computer related. Although techie gift ideas are considered geeky, they can often be quite fun at the same time, after all techie geeks have more to their personality than just their technical side. Before buying gifts for techies, read the article below to help you find the best gift for your techie that range in price for expensive to cheap.

Instructions

  1. Think about the person behind the “techie”.

First of all, before generalizing all techie geeks into one lump category, remember that each techie is unique and has unique interests and gift preferences. Yes, they all like technology, but they each use technology differently. For example, the best techie gift idea for a techie boy friend or husband will be a different type of gift that for your techie brother.

  2. Stay away from commonplace techie gadgets

Do not think that every electronic gadget makes a good techie gift. Electronics and gadgets that are readily available do not make great techie gift ideas for a techy because, most probably, your techie has a preference of exactly which one he or she wants. For example, don’t buy a digital camera for your techie friend without knowing exactly which type of digital camera they want. There are so many types of digital cameras to choose from that you are bound to mess up.

Of course, if you know that your techie friend is looking for a particular gadget you can buy the best techie gift by simply asking him or her which one they want. It won’t be a surprise, but your techie will appreciate it.

  3. Choose the newest and coolest for a really exciting techie gift

If you want to get your techie really excited, listen to the news and find out about the newest technical gadget that everyone is waiting for. Place your order immediately when the product is available and be one of the first ones to order it and watch your techie’s reaction when you give them the gift. Of course this option can be a little expensive.

  4. Choose a techie watch as a safe techie gift

In most cases, a special techie watch makes a safe gift for a techie or geek. There are many types of techie watches – look for one with unique geeky features that your techie would appreciate. Choose between watches that double as cell phones or video cameras. For a computer programming geek you can even choose a watch with binary time display.

  5. Choose a romantic techy gift for your partner

If you are buying a techie gift for a husband, wife, boy friend or girl friend, you can buy a geeky romantic gift for your bedroom. There are many options such as exotic electrical lighting and electrical candle lights to choose from.

  6. Stay on budget and buy a cheap techie gift if you are low on cash

Geek and tech gifts come in all different sizes and price ranges. You don’t have to spend a fortune just because you are buying an electrical gadget. For a cheap techie gift you can choose an accessory for a cell phone or computer that goes for under 20 dollars or even under 10 dollars.

  7. Think science fiction if your techie is a “treky”

Although the generalization is not always true, tech geeks are often science fiction fans. If you know your tech friend likes movies then buy them a poster, t-shirt – or better yet – a techie mousepad from the latest science fiction movie.
